About Module 1
In module 1, we were introduced to the background and fundamentals of the application layers, protocols, and other aspects of networking.
This module was in my opinion crucial to this course, because to many of us, it gave us our first exposure to how and what these aspects of networking are. With so much information available, it is at times overwhelming to know where to start. For this module though, we went straight to the OSI/TCP model which was perfect. Thsi module was very helpful, and for me was one of my favorites.
The selected assignments I chose to showcase from module 1 can be found by using the navigation menu to the left but before you do so, please read about why I chose them below.

- The Application Layers assignment was one of the introductuary assignments that really set the tone of what information we would be looking at through the rest of this semester. It consisted of creating two tables for both the ISO/OSI and TCP/IP models, where the layers found in each of them are listed, along with the function each does, the sample protocol found in each, and the hardware seen in those layers. I found the Application Layer assignment to be the perfect assignment to start module one with because as a person who is not very familiar with networking, this gave me the fundamentals of the OSI and TCP model, and has helped me see how these models are applied in every aspect of networking.
